African Research Network: Project African Assessment
New Americans Community Services (NACS) is carrying out African Research Network: Project African Assessment . The core goal of the project is to engage African refugee communities and place the lives and well-being in their own hands by building their capacity to assess their needs and develop their own solutions. NACS continues to unite the skills and expertise of representatives from African communities, academic scholars, and government leaders in developing and carrying out African community-based participatory research. The project is facilitating the development and application of a research process that engages African communities in the practice of creating knowledge and strategies to do comprehensive community assessment. The initial research questions we proposed was to investigate and determined the degree to which Africans in the seven-county Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area were undercounted in the 2000 U.S. Census, and assessing the overall social, health, and economic well-being of Africans in the seven counties metro area.
