New Americans Community Patient Safety Project
NACS is building on its research role in the African immigrant community by leading and coordinating a patient safety outreach program for African immigrants. We will continue to partner with other African Community-based organizations in our programs including our patient safety outreach efforts in order to implement effective refugee resettlement activities, employment counseling and health research.
The overall goals of the project are as follows:
- Develop and implement programs to enhance communication between providers and African immigrants and refugees
- Develop and implement processes, resources and tools to increase African-born knowledge of choices and options available to them regarding their health care needs
- Develop and implement processes, resources and tools to support and evaluate Africans behavior change based on health care recommendations
